What happens during tummy tuck surgery?

A full tummy tuck requires horizontal incisions along the lower area of the abdomen and around the belly button. These incisions give the surgeon access to abdominal muscles, allowing him to tight them up and remove excess of fat, tissue and skin. Thin draining tubes will be placed to avoid excessive accumulation of fluids inside the cavity between the skin and the muscle.

Which is the length of the surgery?

Usually this procedure takes about 3 hours, although it may take longer due to the patient’s condition and specific case.

Will I have to stay in the hospital?

Tummy tuck requires an overnight stay at the hospital to get medical supervision, after 1 night you will be able to return home.
